The fifth Test of the series between India and England will be played in Birmingham on Friday.
The bad news for the Indian team came on Thursday when captain Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the fifth Test due to the coronavirus.
Rohit Sharma's Corona Test was positive on Thursday, forcing him to withdraw from the Test match.
In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Indian fast bowler Jaspreet Bumra will captain India, while Rishbha Pant will be the team's vice-captain.
This is the first time in 35 years that a fast bowler has captained the Indian team in a Test match.
"We will miss Rohit Sharma in the fifth Test. He is such an important player for us," said Jaspreet Bamra after Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the match.
Five different players have captained the Indian cricket team for eight matches this year.
Ajinkya Rahane captained the team in the first Test against New Zealand, Virat Kohli in the second Test and Virat Kohli in the first and third Tests against South Africa. KL Rahul was the captain.
Similarly, Rohit Sharma was the captain in the first and second Test matches against Sri Lanka and now Jaspreet Bumra will be the captain in the last Test match against England.
On the other hand, England has announced its squad for the last Test match.
The interesting thing about this Test match is that both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are out of the team for the highest-scoring batsman for India in this series.
India and England have played seven Tests in Edgbaston so far, with England winning six and drawing one.
It is believed that this Test match between India and England is the remaining match of the 2021 series which was postponed due to coronavirus.
