Business centers and shops in Punjab to be closed at 9 pm

 



Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz has announced the closure of commercial, business centers, and shops at 9 pm as an energy-saving measure.

According to a statement issued by the Punjab Chief Minister's Office after meeting the business delegation on Saturday, it has been decided to close the business centers at night due to the ongoing energy crisis in the country.

Implementation of power saving plan in Punjab will start from Monday, June 20. Shopping and business centers, shops and restaurants will be closed early at night.

According to the announcement, wedding halls will be closed at 10 pm while restaurants will be closed at 11:30 pm. Medical stores are exempt.

In the first phase, the decision will be implemented in all major cities of the province including Lahore.

It may be recalled that as a measure to address the energy crisis in Sindh province, the decision to close markets and business centers in cities at 9 pm and wedding halls at 10.30 pm is already being implemented.

At the meeting of the National Economic Council, the Federal Cabinet had informed the Chief Ministers of the proposals and decisions regarding energy saving in the meeting of June 7, 2022.

The four provinces agreed in principle to close the bazaars and shops at 8.30 pm




Registration of Illegal Refugees in Islamabad, 'Alternative Accommodation Will Be Arranged'



Islamabad police say they have started registration for resident foreigners, employees, tenants and illegal immigrants.

In a statement released on Twitter on Sunday, Islamabad police said, "We are also looking for alternative accommodation for the illegally residing refugees where they will be housed."

The statement added that "separate shelters for refugees are intended for their security so that no terrorists or miscreants can stay among them."

According to police, "citizens should immediately register their employees, tenants and illegal immigrants."

Islamabad Police has also directed the hotel owners to "keep a complete record of domestic and foreign visitors and provide their details to the concerned police station".

It may be recalled that earlier in some areas of Islamabad, construction of hostels was completely banned and several hostels were also closed.
